It simply amazes me the amount of people that I know of who will accept the 0.05% interest that the saving accounts are giving them. It borders stupidity.

At the very least you should have your savings in a term deposit or an online high interest savings account such as dragondirect or ingdirect. As of this writing the interest rate is 6.05% and 6.0% respectively.
